Hello! I'm Kris Bleamaster and I'm thrilled to be a 4th grade teacher here at Brauchle.
I am a graduate of UTSA, and have been teaching at Brauchle for 15 years. The photo shows my husband, Les, and me on our honeymoon cruise up in Glacier Bay, Alaska. We were there in June, 2010, and you can see it was a lot different than Texas in June! He's my best friend. We enjoy going to movies, visiting with our grandchildren (we have 10 between us), working in our yard, and playing "tourists" in our own city.
Les is a retired professor, having taught in California and Texas. He spent over 20 years instructing kinesiology (various physical education and coaching classes) at San Antonio College and UTSA.
Besides teaching, I also enjoy reading science fiction and mysteries. I am a geek when it comes to watching shows on the Discovery or History Channels! If I had made a different choice earlier in my life, I would have become a paleontologist. I love learning about prehistoric life on earth and science! Learning is exciting to me, and I love to help children share this excitement. I'm looking forward to learning all about my students and what they like to do!
This year's theme, " Make Your Own Magic!", is a testament to the hard work and practice that every child puts in on a daily basis to achieve success. Like a magician, it takes hard work, grit, and lots of practice to make something look easy. We know that knowledge doesn't "magically" appear. Every child with the support of their family and teachers, works hard to become the best person they can be. My dream is that I can help a child learn how to love exploring new ways to learn I keep learning new things as each student works to become a better learner. It is my hope that each child will come away with a new knowledge and appreciation of his or her own abilities. I am excited to work with parents to help our students be eager learners as we travel through this 2018-19 school year, together. Together, we are stronger.
